I graduated from the Glasgow School of Art with a BA (Hons) degree in Visual Communication (Illustration) in 2004. After graduating, I worked freelance, and then I spent a number of years working in design agencies, working with both large and small clients throughout the world. I have worked as a freelance illustrator again since 2014.
As well as commissioned work, I also run my own small stationery business, Paper Heart Stationery. Born from my love of colour, it gives me an opportunity to create paper goods with my own illustrations. I also love to create personal artwork - having no brief can be a welcome challenge. My work is always drawn freehand, and includes detailed areas and pattern. Almost all of my work is drawn using Staedtler pigment liner pens and Windsor and Newton Promarkers, or when I need to work at scale it's created on my iPad in Procreate.
